Just like an alarm clock, Oskar comes in between 6 and 6.30 and we check out 'good news' items suitable for a young mind, and a new favourite frisbee tricks. Then Alex is up, breakfast for the boys, cut lunches, bags in the Pajero and off on the drive to school. Lucky I've driven a 2 ton truck in the past, as missing potholes, Taxis taking short cuts and Police directing the school traffic make for an interesting drive to school. Sometimes its high tide as we drive along the bay
Sometimes its low tide, exposing the sandy shore, where people walk and swim.
But always there is the sign to remind us that sometimes the tide may be out for another reason and why we live on a hill.
When I return from the school run, its into sewing, not that I'm doing the actual sewing, Chris had sent Mary's daughter to learn to sew and she sews, with me giving extra details instructions and helping with the cutting out, no paper patterns, just another piece of clothing to cut from. Sometimes I make a little outfit for me. This dress we made for Chris, with Atlas and a good supply of fabric, who wouldn't sew.
I don't go to the markets every day, but at the moment the soursops are in, and they make a great juice drink, we had one on our tree but the bats got it first. The watermelons are improved from the pale pink watery ones on sale in my early visits, and of course there is jackfruit, duruka, chillies and ferns. All to be made into delicious meals. When the bags get too heavy there is always a willing helper who will take you to the best spots to buy and deliver the goods to your car.
What a great way to spend a rainy winters day. Its a cool 22c here at the moment, but that is a long way from -5 in Canberra.
