Coasting on Nostalgia
I drove from the Gold Coast to Canberra and had some extra time to stop on the way, visiting places I hadn't been too before or so long I'd forgotten, My first stop was at Fingal Head to see the basalt column rocks, not as good as the Giants Causeway in Ireland but interesting to see we have some here in Australia,
I stopped at Yamba to see what was different, think I was last there 40 years ago, always in too much of a hurry to go off the highway. I even detoured into Iluka for a quick look and spent the night in Coffs Harbour, with a walk along Korora Beach to check out the different stones in amazing colours.
Valla Beach was another stop and see, it was really too wet to spend much time exploring,
Lunch was at Short Cuts at Macksville, the food is always different. I stopped for a chat with some friends of Miltons.
Another place I've never been to is Swan Bay near Karuah, an untouched spot, wish the sun had been shining, spent the night chatting family history with a relative I hadn't seen for 30 years.
It was an easy drive to Canberra in time for Pizza tea with Oskar and Carlo.
