New York, Chicago, Michigan & Salt Lake City
I left New York and travelled by Greyhound to Chicago, stopping overnight in Albany. Chicago was wonderful, so much to see, streets lined with flowers, interesting buildings, and amazing art at the gallery.
I took a cruise which went around the waterways and through the lock to Lake Michigan, it was a beautiful sunny day
After 3 days in Chicago I hired a car and drove to Michigan and the other side of the lake. It was different, sandy beaches and lots of massive sand dunes. The lake is 300 miles long. I only made it half way up one side before I had to return to Chicago for my 30 day rail trip from Chicago to San Francisco and north then return to Chicago.
I stopped in Denver for 3 days, lots of see there, then to Glenwood Springs. The scenery from Denver to Glenwood Springs is not to be missed. This is the hot springs pool in the centre of town, The Indians used the steam caves about 100 metres from the pool and I had a steam cave experience and massage.
I was in the observation car for the journey from Glenwood Springs to Salt Lake City and really didn't know which side of the train to look out of. My camera worked overtime.
